International Mother Language Day 2023 Observed at ICSB
ICSB observed Mohan Shaheed Dibosh and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity and significance. Dhaka Regional Chapter (DRC) Sub Committee of ICSB organized the programme. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag (half-mast) immediately after sunrise in the morning. With the participation of Council members, members of ICSB, special prayers were organized for eternal peace of the departed soul of language martyrs. A rally with a good number of members of the Institute paid homage to the martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar premises by a Provat Ferry from the ICSB campus by carring banners and flowers bouquet.
In the afternoon, a discussion programme was organized which was opened by Mr. Md Zakir Hossain, Secretary & CEO of ICSB. He introduced the programme guests to all the members. The entire programme was moderated by Mr. Md. Shahedul Amin FCS, Member Secretary, DRC. Mr. Mohammed Harun-Ar-Rashid FCS, Chairman, DRC and Council Member gave the welcome address. He thanked everyone for attending in the Provat Ferry and the discussion session spontaneously.
Special Guest Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President thanked DRC Members and DRC Chairman Mr. Mohammed Harun-Ar-Rashid FCS for organizing this event. While speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that the main purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity.
Chair of the programme Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS President of ICSB said that 21st February is a significant day for the Bengali nation which cannot be described in words. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the language movement and thanked all those present for participating in the Provat Ferry and discussion session. In his speech, he gratefully remembered the role of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the life sacrifice of the language martyrs to get the right to speak and write in Bangla language.
that the Bangla language is developing and making its ground at the international level. Bengali is also an official language in the West African nation of Sierra Leone, in honor of Bangladesh’s role in that nation. We all dreamt of an outstanding Bangladesh.
Mr. Shankar Shawjal, Dramatist and Cultural Activist graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He thanked ICSB for organizing such an excellent programme. He described to children about our Adarsha Lipi and Bengali letter. He also said that thirty-six years of alphabet writing competition means three eras will be completed this time. This program is organized on the following Friday of 21st February in the premises of Shaheed Minar where the children’s first lesson in writing will be given.
A. K. M. Mushfiqur Rahman FCS, Vice President and Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Treasurer of ICSB also discussed in the event. A good amount of Fellow and Associate Members of the Institute and officials of ICSB were present. A good number of members participated in the discussion session. An art competition for the member’s children were arranged and prizes were handed over based on their outstanding performance.
At the end, Mr. Mohammed Quamruzzaman Khan ACS, Member, DRC of ICSB delivered vote of thanks on behalf of the Institute.
