ICSB Strengthens International Engagement with CGIM at CGI Global Governance Summit 2026

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) is pleased to share that its representatives participated in the CGI Global Governance Summit 2026, organised by the Chartered Governance Institute of Malaysia (CGIM), formerly known as MAICSA, on 22–23 September 2026 at the KLGCC Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Summit provided a valuable international platform for governance professionals to exchange insights, share global perspectives and explore emerging trends shaping the future of the governance profession.

Taking this international engagement a step further, on 23 September 2026, ICSB and CGIM held an initial meeting to explore opportunities for strategic institutional collaboration and creating new professional opportunities for ICSB members.

Representing ICSB were Mr. Md. Sharif Hasan FCS, Vice President; Mr. Nayamul Hoque FCS, Chairman, Professional Branding and Public Relations Sub-Sub-Committee; and Mr. Riazur Reza Faisal, Member, International Relations Sub-Committee.

Representing CGIM were Dato’ Akbar bin Moidunny, Immediate Past President; Datuk Suseela Menon, Vice President – Chartered Governance Institute (Global); and Mr. Justin J. Anthony, CEO.

The discussions covered potential collaboration in professional qualifications, training programmes, academic pathways, preferential member benefits, and joint knowledge-sharing initiatives, including webinars and professional sessions.

Both institutions also exchanged perspectives on the development and practice of the governance profession in Bangladesh and Malaysia, reinforcing their shared commitment to professional excellence, knowledge exchange and stronger international connectivity.

As a next step, ICSB and CGIM are working towards signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will formalise the proposed areas of cooperation and open new avenues of professional development and international exposure for ICSB members.

ICSB’s participation in the Global Governance Summit and its engagement with CGIM mark another meaningful step towards strengthening Bangladesh’s presence in the global governance community and building bridges for the international advancement of the profession.
