Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS has been serving as Executive Director-Corporate Affairs and Group Company Secretary of all the Companies of Beximco Group since 1998. Before joining in Corporate Headquarters, he worked in Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited in various responsible high positions since July 1983. He did his Graduation and professional degree in Law (LL.B.) from the Dhaka University. He obtained LL.M. Degree and also MBA major in Human Resource Management. He qualified as Chartered Secretary from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB). He is the Fellow Member of ICSB.
The Members of ICSB elected him as Council Member of ICSB in the election held on 1 October 2022 and the Council of ICSB elected him as its President on 10 October 2022 for the term 2022-25. It is his fifth term elected as the President of ICSB.
As President of the ICSB for 4 Terms: 2006-2007, 2008-2009, 2009-2010 & 2013-2016 he had performed the responsibilities with the best satisfaction and successfully representing the Institute in national and international level. Under his dynamic leadership, relentless efforts and constant persuasion with the highest level of Government for long 11 years the “Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010” was passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh on 7 June 2010 and created a milestone in the history of Chartered Secretaries Profession in Bangladesh. He is the Founder President of ICSB. For such contributions, he was awarded a Gold Medal by the ICSB in 2010. He was also awarded in second time on 16 June, 2023 a Gold Medal by the Institute for “Honour to the Leadership, appreciation in recognition of his remarkable contributions towards the development of the CS Profession and ICSB”. He is only the Member of ICSB who awarded two times Gold Medal for his outstanding contributions for development of ICSB. Prior to his election as President of the Institute in 2006 he had performed the responsibilities as Treasurer, Vice-President and Senior Vice-President of the Institute since 1998. He also performed the responsibilities as Council Member of ICSB for the periods 2016-2019 and 2019-2022.
He served as Member of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) established under the direct supervision and control of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for the terms 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2013-2016 and played a pioneering role for its establishment. Currently he is the Member of BICM for the term 2022-25.
He is also an active Member of a lots of renowned professional and social organizations of the country. He took various programs for providing education free of cost to the backward, poor and ultra-poor students and empowerment of women of his locality in Cumilla, with the end in view, among others, he established a College in 2004 in his village home at Cumilla District and running it as one of the model College in the District which was awarded MPO by the Ministry of Education in 2019 for its best performance at Cumilla Board.
During the long tenure of service with BEXIMCO, he participated in various professional seminars, workshops and training courses in Bangladesh as well as in the United Kingdom, USA, Pakistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, UAE, France and Switzerland and earned wide range of knowledge in Corporate Governance, Corporate Management, regulatory affairs, Compliance, Taxation, Companies Act and Corporate legal affairs.
